Opposition BJP today dubbed the Interim Budget presented by the UPA government as a “betrayal” of the common man and likened it to the balance-sheet of tainted IT company Satyam Computers.

Initiating the discussion on the Budget in the Lok Sabha, BJP leader Ananth Kumar said that the country, reeling under the effects of the global economic downturn, had expected that the government will come out with solutions but in vain.

“Unfortunately, the Interim Budget presented by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has failed to bring cheer to the common man,” he said.

Kumar also dubbed Mukherjee, who presented the interim budget as acting Finance Minister, as a “nightwatchman” of a “crumbling innings of a crumbling team”.
