Bangalore, Apr1 (PTI) The BJP in Karnataka today termed the Hogenakkal drinking water project, being implemented by the Tamil Nadu government, as illegal and asked the Centre to intervene to stop it. Hogenakkal per se belongs to Karnataka.

According to the erstwhile topographical map of Madras presidency also, it is part and parcel of Karnataka state, senior BJP leader H N Ananth Kumar said after a party delegation met Governor Rameshwar Thakur. “We have lodged an oral protest” against Tamil Nadu’s decision to go ahead with the project, he said.
