Shri AnanthKumar has said that he will soon raise the issue of reservations to emancipate differently-abled people in employment sectors in the State with the government. He plans to put this forward at the winter session of the Lok Sabha.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the Walkathon 2013 and ASB National Cricket Tournament for the Blind organized by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India and Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled. He said he will urge the government to bring in special privileges for people with disabilities.
“We have over 12 lakh differently-abled people in the State, but only 6 lakh of them are employed. The government has to ensure that all of them are given opportunities in government offices and public sector units,” he said. He further said he will speak to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the implementation of 3 per cent reservation in jobs available in the State for the differently-abled.

Ananth Kumar, underlined the need for a political consensus on addressing issues related to people with disabilities.“By 2020, we must set a target to be able to reduce the number of people who suffer from visual impairments. All stakeholders must work together to make it happen”
