Netizens flocked into Ananth Kumar’s Site
Bangalore, 14th April 2009: As though the flood gates of knowledge were burst open, nearly 500 netizens logged onto www.ananth.org to interact with Senior BJP leader, Bangalore South BJP candidate, Shri Ananth Kumar today. The Live Chat session was inaugurated by R Ashok, Transport Minister in the presence of dignitaries such as Dr Hemachandra Sagar, R K Misra Ananth Koppar, Shri Pradeep Oak, Shri R K Misra and Dr Subramanya.
“Where do we meet you to discuss our problems?”; “Who will become the home minister?”; “Are you part of the Operation Lotus in Karnataka?” “Will you be giving importance to the problems of my ward?” The diverse variety of queries posed and the immense response indicated that today’s young educated voter is well aware of the political process and is eager to empower democracy.
Speaking at the occasion, Shri Ananth Kumar said “We need to democratize the IT technology and empower each citizen to face the onslaught of globalization. I should thank my wife Tejaswini for persuading me to create a website way back in 1998. Infact, in my family everyone except me is an IT professional and I am the only politician. They persuaded me to link up with the net citizens on cyberspace and create a blog which can document my thoughts in a real-time basis for public interaction. I should also thank my IT friends Shri Ananth Koppar, Shri Pradeep Oak, Shri R K Misra and Dr Subramanya for guiding me on this issue.”
“Today, all politicians and parties want to be seen online and have launched their websites, blogs, etc. However you should remember that we need to have a focused IT policy to enable each of our citizens to log onto the internet and utilize its power. No other political party, except BJP has brought out an IT Vision document to guide our country to become a knowledge society. We are all envious of the rapid development of China, however, if we had NDA government we could have surpassed that country by now.”
“Everything is under the searchlight of media and communication today. Powered by IT, media has been bringing the happenings around the world to our homes in real-time. People are aware of issues around them due to the instant media coverage. However, we need to democratize the IT technology and empower each citizen to face the onslaught of globalization.”
R K Misra, the Lead India winner also spoke at the occasion and said that BJP as a party has always focused on empowering good governance through technology. He said we should not get stuck with slogans and speeches, but act on giving good governance. Integration of all government activities under one IT structure can enable rapid action on projects as well as reach the benefits to the needy. The pathetic implementation of NREGA as documented by the CAG report indicates that only Rs.16 out the sanctioned Rs.100 ever reaches the rural poor.
