On the afternoon of 3rd March Shri Narendra Modi addressed a large crowd of supporters at the ‘Hunkar Rally’ in Muzaffarpur.

There Shri Modi welcomed former Union Minister Shri Ram Vilas Paswan and Shri Upendra Kushwaha as they joined the NDA:

“NDA is expanding and I welcome Ram Vilas ji and Upendra ji. This expansion is not going to stop. Our strength will increase and so will the woes of others. NDA not only stands for National Democratic Alliance but is also the National Development Alliance…”

Modi ji praised how Shri Paswan was always friendly to him :

“Ram Vilas ji left NDA but whenever we met, we met with great affection. If media took photos, he never got scared. This is because Paswan ji has no hypocrisy, whereas some leaders will talk properly behind closed doors, and behave differently in public. People cannot forgive hypocrisy.”

Addressing the various concerns afflicting Bihar, like the defunct sugar factories, untapped potential of water resources, lack of employment opportunities for the youth, and lack of proper sanitation facilities Modi ji said:

“60 years after freedom, still we need better sanitation facilities for women. Can this current government and the government in Delhi give you jobs? We also need to take Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s river grid project ahead, but this was not fulfilled by the UPA.”

Shri Modi stressed on how Bihar had become a haven for terrorists because of the Central government’s practice of vote bank politics: “We have to fight terror in one voice, rising above politics. That is when the common people will feel secure.”

Shri Modi added that how under the garb of secularism the Congress government was only trying to hide away their bad governance and the serious threats of corruption, poverty, inflation and unemployment. Referring to Congress and 3rd front parties Shri Modi said, “They rise when polls near but sleep otherwise. They can vitiate the atmosphere but never do well for India. For them secularism is votebank politics but for us it is India first and development politics. For them secularism is about appeasement to all and justice to none, but for us it is about appeasement to none and justice for all.”

Recalling the recent incident of bombing at the BJP’s rally in Patna in October 2013, Shri Modi stated that the explosives had hit the Nation’s unity, and bowed to the people of Bihar that in spite of such threat they had shown the courage to unite and send a strong message. “Why were innocent people killed? Those killed were from Bihar only. We need freedom from such thoughts and such leaders as only then will India progress,” said Shri Modi.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Former Deputy CM Shri Sushil Modi, Lok Sabha MPs Shri Shahnawaz Hussain, Shri Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Shri Radha Mohan Singh, among others.
