Workshop on Implementing Green Kitchens

Green Kitchen workshop by Adamya Chetana – 27 th Aug 2016, Saturday

This workshop is being delivered by Adamya Chetana Foundation in association with Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and support of VTU

** Background **

Amidst the growing environmental concerns regarding the rapid impact of increasing temperatures, carbon foot prints etc., there has also been a growing awareness on the need to adopt eco friendly lifestyles and practices at individual homes, workplaces or in the immediate surroundings. One such area which draws our attention is our homes and kitchens wherein a considerable amount of waste is generated and disposed, whether in a suitable or unsuitable manner is however debatable.

Swachh Bharat Mission is an initiative by the Government of India to create a clean India and promote environmental sustainability. Adamya Chetana, a NGO founded in the year 1997, is involved in providing hot and nutritious meals to over 2 lakh children every day under the Mid Day Meal Scheme through it’s 5 kitchens across cities.  Adamya Chetana has pioneered and implemented very successfully the concept of Green Kitchen at Bengaluru for the last 5 years. Today, the Bengaluru kitchen cooks food for nearly 50,000 children daily without generating a speck of garbage (solid and liquid), and use of fossil free fuel only.

In this background, Adamya Chetana would like to share with others in the community and create awareness on concepts of Implementing Green Kitchens and thereby contribute to the larger society and the environment. By partnering with Adamya Chetana, VTU college kitchens & hostel messes can follow green earth-friendly practices to reduce garbage and the consumption of water & energy.

In continuation of the Workshop, Adamya Chetana will be happy to assist you implement Green Kitchen at your premises.
